Halo Brows Are The Latest Ridiculous Online Trend

Published

on

Once make-up bloggers have covered the normal bases, where else is there to really go?

Drawing random shapes on your face and connecting them to your eyebrows before naming them #[insert insane idea] brows is now trending!

I suppose in the sea of beauty bloggers, you’ve got to do something to maintain some relevance and this time, it’s with ‘halo brows’.

Hannah also came up with something called the ‘triple brow’ – because one on each side isn’t enough apparently.

The strange brow trends don’t end there, with each new season, they find a way to alter your eyebrows for the occasion.

Cue Christmas 2017 brows…where they made their eyebrows into Christmas trees.

2017 also served up Nike ‘swoosh brows’ which I think are even worse than the Christmas bauble brows. What do you think?

Makeup artist Huda Kattan, who boasts a staggering 22 million Instagram followers, also shared a snap of the brows.

She wrote:
I really REALLY want to encourage you guys to start your makeup page if it’s been something you’ve been wanting to do, even if you just wanna do it for fun.

I know it can be intimidating but honestly I’m so glad I made the decision to start my own.

You don’t “have to have” anything to start. You don’t have to have a lot of makeup or camera or even that much skill. Now, I love McDonald’s as much as the next man, but quite frankly, I would never think about getting eyebrows drawn on to mimic their trademark two arches.

Some people are even colouring their eyebrows in yellow to complete the fast food fashion look.

If thismakes you want to frown and get angry at the state of fashion, then bust out those eyebrow pencils and rectify it right away into the arches.

‘McDonald’s brows’ are achieved when the fashionista makes their existing brows invisible using powder and concealer, then painting on faux brows as high as possible to mirror the iconic golden arches.

While nobody thinks this is serious and it’s a laugh but…Something about the McDonald’s brows seems just that little bit worse to me, compared with the Nike.

Though they’re both outrages, McDonald’s brows seem extra ..

What are your thoughts?

People Who Drink Black Coffee More Likely To Be Psychopaths

Published

on

Who doesn’t love to indulge?

I’m not afraid to say it, but I like food and drink.

I love black coffee too – but apparently, that makes me a psychopath.

According to a new study of almost a 1,000 people, carried out at Innsbruck University in Austria, people who enjoy bitter food and drink are the same folk who like waterboarding OAP’s in their spare time.

Furthermore, according to Vice, they’re ‘duplicitous, self-serving, cold-hearted, vain, selfish, sadistic, narcissistic and even psychopathic’.

All because… I just like a strong coffee.

The researchers explained:

The results suggest that how much people like bitter-tasting foods and drinks is stably tied to how dark their personality is.

[These findings are the] first empirical evidence that bitter taste preferences are linked to malevolent personality traits.

The first experiment, conducted on 500 people, men and women, with an average age of 35, involved asking them to rate certain foods based on how much they liked them.

Then, they were all required to fill in four different personality questionnaires.

The questionnaires asked the participants a whole host of things to subtly find out how aggressive they were. They also had them fill in a survey called a Comprehensive Assessment of Sadistic Tendencies.

Again, I just like the occasional bitter taste. Does that make me a sadist?

The results indicated that people who enjoy ginger and cauliflower are the same people who claimed on the questionnaire that they enjoyed tormenting people etc.

After the first experiment a second one was carried out and the results were weirdly similar.

The researchers concluded:

General bitter taste preferences emerged as a robust predictor for Machiavellianism, psychopathy, narcissism and everyday sadism.

Although the reason behind it isn’t clear enough for me, one theory is that bitter foods in the wild were typically poisonous so while most of us wouldn’t want to ingest something potentially deadly, psychopaths got slightly turned on by the possibility of danger.

Interesting!

The Mother Who Hid Leg For Two Years Finally Has Confidence To Wear A Dress

Published

on

A Mother who was hiding her ‘ugly’ leg under trousers for two decades now has the confidence to wear dresses, after making the difficult decision to amputate the limb.

For many years  32-year-old Kristy Wimberly was embarrassed by her right leg which had stopped growing at the same pace as her other when she was diagnosed with a rare spinal cord tumour, astrocytoma, at age 6.

The nerves that connect her spinal cord to her leg were damaged during surgeries to remove the tumour and further compromised during a surgery to insert titanium rods in her back to treat scoliosis.

The damage to Kristy’s nerves meant that the growth of her right leg was stunted, leaving it a full two inches shorter than the other and unable to walk without a brace.

The executive assistant, who went through 19 surgeries to try and lengthen her leg, was called a ‘cripple’ by high school classmates and became obsessed with concealing her disability, never wearing shorts or dresses even in the depths of summer.

The mom-of-one, from St Louis in Missouri, was confined to a wheelchair and crutches for months after each surgery and wasKristy said:

For the first time in my life I am wearing shorts and short dresses. When I do wear pants I cut off one of the legs to show off my prosthesis.

I’m so proud of it, and thankful for the new life it’s given me.

Kristy said that her family, husband, mechanic Don Wimberly, and daughter Eva Erwin, four, have seen a massive shift in her confidence since she was fitted with a bionic knee, which is controlled by the weight and movement of her upper leg.

She added:

Looking back at those photos of my ‘ugly’ leg… I have absolutely no regrets. I couldn’t keep doing what I was doing, living my life hiding.

In fact, I wish I had done it years ago, especially when I think about all that time I wasted worrying about that leg.

Kristy plans to take part in November’s Project Athena, an event where she will cycle and kayak 120 miles along the Florida coastline.

The fitness fanatic concluded:

It’s daunting because it’s something I would never have been able to do before, but I’m determined. I want to make up for those years I missed out on now that I can.She concluded: ‘I definitely won’t be wearing pants, that’s for sure.’

Best of luck, Kristy!

This College Dropout Refuses To Leave Her Dorm Room

Published

on

She loves the college life — just not the classes.

Hunter College is currently fighting a battle in court to evict a stubborn student who refuses to leave her dorm room some 2 years after she dropped out.

Delaware native Lisa S. Palmer — who has not paid rent since 2016 — refuses to get out of Room E579 at the school’s 425 E. 25th St. co-ed dormitory, according to an eviction lawsuit filed in Manhattan Supreme Court.

The 32-year-old “racked up a staggering $94,000 in unpaid residence hall charges on account of her continued occupancy, all the while ignoring Hunter College’s service of additional vacate notices,” said the suit.“As of today, June 7, 2016 you are still in occupancy of the aforementioned room,” Michell Quock, assistant director of residence life, wrote to Palmer two summers ago.

Last fall a Hunter attorney continued the battle to evict Palmer, sending her an eviction notice that said in bold-faced type: “THIRTY DAY NOTICE OF TERMINATION.”

“You are required to vacate and surrender the premises on or before Oct. 31, 2017 at 12:00 p.m.,” the attorney wrote.

But the former geography major student, who now works for an architecture firm, refused to budge.

“I plan on fighting the lawsuit and while I fight it, I’m going to stay,” Palmer told The Post from outside her messy, 100-square-foot single, which is adorned with a lava lamp, a dream catcher and piles of dirty dishes.

Though school officials say Palmer dropped out, she insists Hunter refused to let her register for fall 2016 classes after she disputed her housing and tuition bill.

I felt that it was a miscommunication initially, but after I met with the dean I felt that they were starting to treat me unfairly. It was like, ‘Get out,’” she said.

Only full-time students that maintain a minimum grade point average and keep current on their room and board fees are allowed to stay in the dorms, the suit says.

Palmer, who first enrolled in Hunter in 2010 after a stint at St. John’s University in Queens, said dorm life is “really lonely” for someone in her 30s.

I feel very isolated,” she said, saying that Hunter moved her to a wing that’s only occupied by a middle-aged nurse, whom the college is also trying to evict.

The college wants to boot a total of nine nurses who were given rooms in various wings of the E. 25th Street building when it was owned by Bellevue Hospital.

The resident nurses include 67-year-old Derek DeFreitas who has kept a dormitory room “crash pad” at the address for decades.
